IH454 PTO lever.

Howdy,

A friend in Poland is restoring an IH 454. He says his PTO lever has 3 positions. He says it looks like this: 0--1-------------- 2

He wants to know what the middle (1) position is for? Is that a two speed PTO?

Hi the 454 that we have 0 is OFF, 1 is SLOW Start, 2 is Locked ON.

Hi, PTO is activated by a hydraulic clutch pack. I assume that in the slow start mode, the PTO brake is released and low hydraulic pressure is applied to the PTO clutch pack just enough to provide PTO drive but allowing slippage but not enough to lockup the PTO clutch pack.
