Cub seat post loose

The bolts holes in the axle housing for the seat post are stripped in my 59 Cub. I have looked at helicoils and other remedies, but I'm not sure which is best. There is obviously a lot of stress at those points. What is the best way to fix the seat mount, so that it stays fixed?

Thread inserts are better as they are much more than a spring wound into the new hole. They also use standard taps. Time-Sert is one, E-Z lok is another. Jim
 
the inserts are ok and I have used them with good results,,but where I had enough metal to do it I always went to the next size bolt,,being sure to stay with the coarse thread for strength. not familiar with the cub rear housing as to whether or not this is applicable.
 
I would remove the post then get a mag drill to drill new holes for next sixe thread or else go to the later style seat that doesent use the post. You can find the brackets on farmall cub ebay or get them from a salvage yd.

I second the idea of getting the "Deluxe Seat". More money to convert but you'll be glad you did!
 
The deluxe seat reuses the same bolt holes.

I replacement housing with good bolt holes shouldn't be hard to find.
 
Thanks guys! This is one of those real "get your goat things"about Tractor Supply" I reached into the grade 8 5/8 bolt bin and pulled out 2 1 and 1/2 inch bolts. Problem was, was that the entire bin was filled with 9/16 bolts. No wonder they wouldn't hold. I picked up a couple of properly sized bolts from a local supply house along with a bolt sizing guide and now everything holds tight.
