SMTAD pics and questions

Worked on the tractor in the rain today, put starter off of other tractor on and with 12 v battery it started on gas and switched to diesel.
Temperature was high 40's and raining and it switched over smoothly and never smoked or missed. TA will kill the engine in fifth gear full
throttle so overall I think it is a real solid tractor. Throttle control looks homemade, definitely different than my other SMTAD or MD's would
appreciate thought on it, serial number is 759xx, forgot to write it down. I am thinking that brackets on the front were for cultivator mounts?
Also has mount under center section that looks like the belly pump bottom, is that implement mount also? Thanks, Mike.

That looks like a real nice tractor you have there. Too bad, about 10 years ago I gave away the entire throttle mechanism off of my parts MD to a guy that in turn shortly after that screwed me over on a deal I let him know about while talking like 2 friends normally would.

Bracket on bottom is for mounting cultivators and other things. Notice the shape is like the bottom of hydraulic unit on a M ETC. Front piece on the left side looks like its cut from the top of some drawbar upright angles equipped with the extra bracket for certain attachment mounting. Throttle parts at left of steering post were originally mounted to the side of engine block. If it's a good runner that makes things nice.

That would be great, my other SMDTA has been modified to clear a Behlen power steering. Would a 1947 MD be the same? Thanks, Mike

Throttle set up the same on MD, SMD and SMTAD except the rear rod that your hand operates is longer on a SMTAD. Good welder can ad the 5 inches or so of rod to work. Or if enough MD parts around make one out of two with one weld.

Thanks for the info, I will look for MD parts next time I am at the parts yard to convert it back to original. What is on the tractor works fine and someone spent a lot of time converting it but i like them the way they came from the factory.

Bolt is stuck in hole for the rear throttle rod to show where the linkage goes. Hole in casting is also broke. In the area below the center injectors and where the last throttle connecting rod goes is the friction assembly to keep throttle in position. It will probably need work since it's probably modified not to work or worn out because of the modified throttle.

Thanks for the picture, I guess the previous owner of mine really wanted the throttle to be like a gas M. It looks like he must have spent a week building rods and mounts to modify the linkages.
