Super A Running Rough intermittently

Hi. My Super A has been stalwart for about a year. I gapped the plugs, changed the oil and adjusted the valves a year ago. It's been running great. Lately, it runs rough and weak intermittently then returns to proper power and rpms without warning. Any thoughts? Could it be the governor needs adjusting? Thanks for any input...It did get caught in the rain a month ago with the hood off, briefly...

Leave the governor alone. How long has it been since you last removed and cleaned the fuel sediment bowl? How about the oil bath air cleaner?

First thing I'd suspect is water in the gas. That can be frustrating, and it almost always causes intermittent problems - if there's not a lot in there.

Next time it happens, quickly look closely at your sediment bowl. If there's water in there, you can usually see it as a clearer layer in the glass bowl. Not foolproof as it can be hard to catch sometimes.

Or you can simply pop the line from the carb and drain a gallon or two into a clear container -if there's water in there, you should see it separated at the bottom.

If you use Ethanol gas, it probably isn't water in the gas unless the cap was off. Set the points to .020" carefully and check for moisture in the cap. Jim

farmall c that i run, after it sits over the winter, sediment bowl, gas shut off, etc., will need cleaning.

Haven't cleaned the sediment bowl in about a
year. Same for the air breather. I noticed
the pipe on the air breather is really dusty
inside. That was one of my first thoughts
thanks
