Help on hydraulics
I have an older M that has had a live pump and loader added.
Wasn't running when I got it, but is now.
I am wondering if anyone may be familiar with these hydraulic systems and could or would send me a drawing or picture on how it should be plumbed.
Presently it has two large valves down by the right leg of the driver that I think are three way. The live power goes into the first valve and into the second which is plumbed to the first with a short nipple. Each valve has a long handle with three way positioning. Power comes out the back of one of these and up to another (valve) that runs the loader.
I have plumbed a gauge in and have a good pump. I just don't know what position to run the big valves in or if I can bypass them?
Anybody familiar with this setup? Somehow I have my loader so it won't go up or down and the rams(2 way) have been rebuilt at a hyd. shop and tested.
Thanks for any help.

It is an open center hydraulic system. In other words oil flows from the pump through the center of the valves and then back to the reservoir when no valves are activated. When one valve is closed the oil goes from the pump to the valve and out to the load. If the cylinder is double action, oil will flow out the other side of the cylinder to the valve and back to the reservoir. That being said the 2 valves you are referring to should be in the center, neutral, position when you are operating the loader valve. It should be plumbed so that oil goes from the pump to the inlet of the 2 valves then out the out port to the other valve. Perhaps someone changed lines or first valves are not really open in neutral position.

I think it is plumbed through the first two valves and then there is a load line that becomes live when the long handle is pushed forward. This line comes out the top rear of the valve and goes up to the loader valves.

You could try holding the handle up or down on the valve below where output goes to loader valve and see if loader would work then. I don't know why it would be plumbed that way as it would mean holding 2 valves down at the same time to run loader.

These open center systems are very simple. A basic live system should look like this:

* Find the hydraulic tank. A hose will run from that to the pump. That is the suction.
* The other hose on the pump is your pressure. It should lead to the IN port of the first valve.
* The OUT port of the first valve should lead to the IN port on the second valve.
* The OUT port of the second valve should lead to the IN port on the third valve.
* The OUT port of the third valve should lead back to the hydraulic tank.
