Farmall 230 Value

I am trying to help a neighbor determine an asking price for a Farmall 230. Starts and runs well although it needs a new battery, 6V. Rear tires are badly checked. Fronts are OK. It has a fast hitch and what appears to be a 2 row cultivator. They were the original buyer of the tractor. Tin is above average. Looking for a range of what to ask for it.

With the attachment, 1200. If the tires have a chance of being usable for a year, maybe 1500 in the Middle states. Its issues are finding FH implements, and no Live PTO. Jim

The problem you're going to have here is that you're asking people to place a value on a tractor sight-unseen, based on a vague description from someone who's idea of "good" "great" "bad" "excellent" may be very different from anyone else's.

Pictures would help.

I would buy ANY 230 in running condition with good front tires and decent tin for $1200 in a heartbeat. Just tell me where to be with a trailer and a stack of $100's.

At that low of a price it will sell quickly, and you will likely be leaving money on the table. A $60 battery and a little sweat equity will add $300 to the value of the tractor. Advertise for $1700, let the buyer talk you down to $1500.

Yes, but, it is the rear tires that are bad. You're looking at a minimum of $1,000 to fix that problem.
