What are these things for?

I recently inherited a '42 H from my wife's uncle (who bought it new). I'm new to farmall's but not to old tractors. I plan to restore this and have been purchasing some needed parts but as I was looking at
the hydraulics what I thought was the lever to engage the pump turned out to be something else and I don't know what it is or what it's for. The lever screws on with a bolt into the hole that below where the
pump engagement lever goes. Did cultivators attach to this?? How?

Also, I was given a pair of what look like some type of screw jacks. Any idea what these where specifically for?

Thanks for the help.

There is (apparently) no Hydraulic system (belly Pump or Liftall) in the tractor. The front hole is where the control lever attaches, and the rear hole on this side is for the single (one way hydro) on this side. The lever is not for an IH attachment that I know of. Jim

It doesn't look like your H has a hydraulic pump. One of the big holes is for the control lever for a pump and the other is for a pump outlet.
The "bolted-on" piece is part of an implement such as a mounted mower. You can remove it and leave it off. However, I would screw the bolt back in just to keep the threads clean.
Doesn't look like you have a belt pulley either-just the drive with no pulley.
Sounds like it needs some work but since it is a family tractor, keep it and enjoy working on it. These old IH tractors can be very rewarding, especially because you know its history. Be sure to check your wife's uncle's "Papers" to see if you can find the Bill of Sale before someone burns them.

I just got the belly pump, it's sitting on the bench in my garage. It had been removed and was found in a shed. I purchased the correct lever, a coupler and a control rod off ebay so I can put it back together.

Those pumps are heavy! The easiest way to install one is to use two 24-inch threaded rods:
1. Thread the rods into alternate corners of the tractor frame where the pump is to be installed.
2. Remove the "Outlet Pipes" and control handle from the pump. Take the cap off the fill pipe on top of the pump.
3. Lift the pump into "Place" below the frame opening where you are mounting it so that the holes line up with the threaded rod.
4. Put a washer and nut on each threaded rod to hold the pump in place.
5. Using a wrench or an open ratchet, thread the nuts up the threaded rod which will lift the pump into place. Make sure the "Drive Slot" and fill pipe are lined up.
6.When you have the pump in place, put regular bolts in the other 2 corners to hold it in place. Remove the threaded rods and install regular bolts in their place.
7. Install the Outlet pipes and control handle through the big holes in the frame.

Why not just set the pump on a floor jack and jack it up into place?

That's the way I do it. Drop it out with the floor jack as well.

If it's like this lever? Had one on a H when I was young and think it was used for a sickle bar mower attachment. Can't remember for sure though. Saw several hanging on H and M tractors over the years and I think always on the right side.
