IH 656 hydraulic aeration issue

I have a IH 656 (non hydro) with a hydraulic fluid aeration problem. I completed the following trouble shooting steps. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1) Removed third link - major aeration in the fluid occurs rather quickly after start up.

2) Checked rubber return hose and it was kinked and had ruptured but under fluid level.

3) Replaced hose and let tractor sit until foam no longer showed up in fluid.

4) Started tractor aeration was persistant.

5) Over filled with 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid.

6) Started tractor aeration was still persistant.

Pull that hose off at the bottom so all oil pulled in by pump is below fluid level. If it quits foaming , your problem is above where hose hooks up. If it still foams, make sure main suction tube down under fluid is not loose and moving around (broken bracket). Next would be leak at filter cover, suction tube on pump or o-ring between rear and mid sections.

Sorry don't understand the filler plug post. Could you elaborate?

Would the filter cover have the potential to introduce aeration in the fluid in a rather major way and very quickly right after start up? There are no seeps of any kind on the cover. In other words is there enough vacuum in the filter cavity to pull this amount of air into the fluid? Due to a clogged filter?

The filter and fluid was changed maybe around 100 hours ago because the fluid appeared to have water contamination because it was milky.

I probably should also note while looking in the back while the tractor was running that I could see at least one of top gear Oilers and the fluid appeared clear without foam.

The filter gasket can leak. Not likely but you never want to overlook simple things. We got a lesson in that about 50 years ago at service
training on 4_560 series. The reason I said to unhook that hose in rear below oil level is to eliminate upper end leak possibilities. They do
happen. That hose is the return from aux valves. The reason for it is to reduce cavitation but if any air can enter due to loose or broken
plumbing in upper cover it will cause aeration instead of reducing it. I have also seen that large suction tube under the oil break loose so
make sure you reach in and grab hold of it to check it. The other thing that gives a lot of problems is the seal on the pump suction tube.
Have to pull pump to check that. No one answer rather a process of elimination.
