fertilizer drop tubes

I am just about ready to put my Super C to work side dressing Corn. I need to get a couple of the rubber drop tubes. What size are those tubes? I see them for sale on Ebay but they are $36 each and I guess I can use just a hose instead of spending that much.

I am in the same boat, I barnyard engineered a pair out of an old vacuum cleaner hose and some brass shim stock. it works ok till i find another pair of metal tubes
