W9 knock

A friend just bought a W9 and he says it has a tick or
light knock in the front . No hydraulics and older with
cast frame . Someone said timing gears ? Been around M' s
so these shouldn't be much different .

WellM Farmalls have little in common with a W9 other than redness. Tick look for valve adjustment. Intermittent knock in upper end, look for wrist pin (tough diagnosis). If rod knock, should sound deep and be consistent. Oil pressure? Jim
