1206 price

Been looking for a 1206. Found one with like new
Firestone tires and duals. Has ice cream box cab
which is a little rough. All tin work is there but needs
paint. Engine and ta good. Front axle welded on.
Some minor hydraulic leaks. What is something like
this worth?
 
4000-25000 , I would pay 1500 any day but would have to mortgage my first born to buy one . The 1206 is one of the most sought after IHC tractors .
 
I like the looks of your low end range best!! Going to be hard to start fishing for a price I know that.
 
The newer Firestones and duals are a plus.The cab,widefront and leaks all hurt.If you need fenders they will cost $500/ up,a good paint job will be $2000 plus. a poor paint job is worth $0.There are a couple nice ones on YT photo ads.Most unrestored ones with good T/A and engine will be at least $8K.The last nice ones at Mecums were around $20K.Most times it is cheaper to buy one that is done as they seem to hold their value and are one of the sharpest IH tractors and are very sought after.I had a new one in 1965 that was an open station that we used and also tractor pulled some.They aren't the best starters,rear ends are a little noisy,and shifting leaves a little to be desired and are a bigger tractor but I have probably had 10 or so and always hate to see them leave.I usually sell them done from $18/22K.
 
You say the 361's dont start very good, boy that's a new one on me,bought a new 806, still have it, i cant tell you how many times people have run in the ditch or whatever and need a pull,started up with out being plugged in many a time.
 
The non turbo charged 361s start fine.I have had many 1206s and my guess is they might have lowered the compression due to solar turbo and they wont start under 32 deg with out being plugged in or a small shot of either.I have had 806s and they do start well.
