Behlen Power steering

Anyone rebuild these? I've had my Farmall 350 for about 15 years and the power steering has never worked. The return line on it just sprung a leak and I figured I might try to fix it right instead of just replacing the line.

Make sure the flow divider valve works also before spending a bunch on the steering unit. The steering unit usually has leaking problems or worn or broken spring and roll pins, where as the flow divider is usually the flow of oil problem. If it steers at all better while holding one of your aux valves on demand, flow divider needs work as well. Should flow 2.5 to 3.5 gal per min at 1200 psi.

The flow divider spool becomes eroded on the lands. You can pull it out the side without removing whole valve assembly. Snap ring hold plug in, then spring and spool inside. Problem is two fold. One, getting a new spool and two, often times, at the age of these machines the bore is eroded also. Years ago I had good results just replacing the spool. It has been about ten years since I replaced one and don't know if they are available now or not. Actually, the first few years those tractors , when new, the spool was not a service part and is not listed in a lot of parts books. IH made the spool available some years later and the parts guys just wrote the number into the books. I haven't looked at the online catalog to see if they are listed or not. (just looked and it might be available). 377204R1
