560d won't start

Does the glow plug indicator get red? has it run in your history with it? Does it make white smoke while cranking? Does it crank fast? We really need answers to these to help. Jim

No either with glow plugs. Better check glow plugs, really should remove them and see that they are not burnt off on end and see that they get
red got.

es while cranking and yes fast and I just purchased it recently

Check to see if each individual glow plug is working. Very easy to do if it is all hooked up the way it should be. Unhook all glow plug wires at the glow plug except one. Make sure none of the unhooked wired touch the engine. Now press the glow plug meter button and the meter should show a reading of approx one third to one half on meter. Do that with each glow plug. If all show that, then meter will show full gauge reading when all hooked up. Now, when trying to start it, You have to hold the glow plugs down for about one minute, (time it, count it, but make sure it is an actual minute or more). Keep holding them down while trying to start. Pull throttle to full throttle for max fuel. If it does not start now, and you have a high cranking speed, you have other problems. You could then take glow plugs out to examine tips. A tip should get red hot in about 15 seconds when hooked up. NEVER use ether with glow plugs. You can blow the manifold and air cleaner right off that tractor. Realize that the starter has to whip that engine over or it won't start and using a charger or another vehicle to boost while trying to start may burn out the glow plugs if not done properly.

yes as pete says. if the starter is draggging it will either be hard to start or wont start. those engines have to wheel over. then they start very easy like 3 turns when every thing is in order.

could I use booster in short periods of time or not use glow plugs hardly while using booster? I think I'll pick some new plugs up soon

you can hook 2 12 volt batteries in parrallel and it wont hurt a thing. many people do use 2 12's in parallel right in the tractor. even as a beginner check... just pull each wire off while someone is holding the button down you should see a tiny spark as you touch it to the plug terminal. without glow plugs working it will NOT start. even if 2 are burnt out it still will start but run very rough. but 6 burnt out no chance. you MUST hold the glow plug button while cranking, AND keep holding it after it sarts till the engine smoothens out.

has tractor ran out of fuel recently? have you changed the fuel filters recently? uh, clean the battery connections. is battery fully charged?
battery should read 13.2 volts (or there abouts) when it is fully charged

batteries and dirty cable connections cause a lot of trouble

Is there air in the fuel line? When my 560D won't start there is air in the fuel filters. I find that I have to bleed the air out of the filters after 5 to
10 hours

How on earth can you get air into the filter cans as the are fed by gravity????

Assuming the fuel bowl is clean the filter cans should stay full.

Hard starting is due to low compression, lack of fuel or glow plugs not working.

I would not use ether on an engine with glow plugs, should never need it if working correctly.

Air in the fuel filters, good subject. Many many years ago, a customer kept complaining that he had to stop his 460 diesel ever so often and shut it off and bleed the air out of the fuel filters. In reality, what was really happening was he had a fuel restriction in his fuel filter causing his problem. When he would stop the engine and open the bleeder , he was hearing air being sucked in due to a partial vacuum created in filter due to the restriction. He thought it was blowing air out. Plugging filters prematurely is nothing new as this was in the 60's. My brother in law had a lot of slimy fuel problems in his 806 until I convinced him he need to use the cotton sock filter for the primary filter. A vacuum gauge installed on the fuel filter bleeder, on the suction side of pump will quickly show any abnormal restriction. Note, some engines have one filter under pressure and one on gravity flow, suction, side. Some like 560 etc , both filters are gravity fed, suction side of pump.

(quoted from post at 19:05:01 04/29/16) It cranks over but won't start I push glow plugs. Do I need to try a little bit of either? And test glow plugs?

Do you have an operators manual????

If not you need to get one as most of this stuff is clearly spelled out.
