International 806 RD fuel pump

I am wondering if anyone here has experience rebuilding RD fuel pumps? I just brought back an 806 wheatland from Canada and the RD pump leaks like a seiv and the repair shop says that it needs to be rebuilt or replaced with a Roosa Master pump! I have heard that RD pumps will out perform Rossa pumps, so I would rather rebuild the RD pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have absolutely ZERO experience with fuel pumps, so any advice is welcomed so I don't get screwed on the pump repair like I did on the tractor purchase. Thanks, Dan

If Fuel Injection Service, Estherville, Ia.. If they cant help you i dont know where to go. 1 800 548 9464. The first two 806 in this area had the RD pump, they lasted a long time, about 5,000 hours. I am not related or affilitaed with injections service in anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, you aren't the first to have mechanical issues appear the moment you get the tractor home.

Seems like no matter how carefully you inspect the tractor, how much/hard you run it at the seller's place, some weird mechanical problem shows up the minute you roll it off the trailer at your place.

Thanks Dwag. I called them and they are super nice to deal with. $1520.43 for a rebuilt. They definitely suggested staying with the RD pump. They said that a Roosa pump with conversion can get REALLY expensive. Thanks for all the help.

You know, the worst thing about it is that I knew that the pump leaked! The guy never told me that it did until I made the 600 mile trip to pick it up. But I saw it right away when we started it up. I should have just left and cut my losses, but I was stupid and nieve, thinking that it would be an easy fix. AND I have wanted an 806 for over 20 years. Just another reason NOT to buy tractors off the internet.

Unless I'm really pushed for time, usually found it was cheaper to send pump in for repair rather than exchange.

I would definitely send them your pump. Ask them if they would test it first. Some shops will, some refuse. If it tests good then they can reseal the leaks and it should not cost a fortune. If it does not test up to snuff, they can contact you and give you an idea of what it would cost to repair it. Usually those RD's are good or bad, period.

Don't have a clue where your at , but i am guessing that RD pump is leaking at the throttle shaft. as for me a simple throttle shaft leak is about a half hour to 45 min. repair and can be done on the tractor . Now if i need a pump done then i take them over to and old friend that has a pump shop and let him do his thing , He is in western Pa.
