1947 Farmall A Governor/Magneto

Finally re-assembling the A. I need simple instructions on remounting the governor, governor cover, and magneto.
Please include any tips and tricks, and don't do's.

Thanks as always !!!!!!!

I hope you havent moved the gear that drives the gov as it is a timed gear that runs off the cam gear and the timing marks need to be one the money or the mag will not fire in time. Did you note the position of the rotor when you removed it from the engine and have you turned the motor since removal. When the mag is installed there are onlytwo ways to do it as the drive of the mag is a slot for the mag to enguage. So when installing mag you are either correct or 180 deg off. So to start did you remove the gov gear and have you turned the engine over need to know before you install the mag.

Here is how to check your timing just to make sure everything is lined up still.

Charlie the engine was completely rebuilt, along with the magneto. The governor is new.
Bottom line - everything has been moved, and I am starting from scratch. This is why I am consulting this forum
for expert advice and counsel.
I welcome your advise !!!!!!

If its been all apart better check the timing dotsd on the crank to see if they are correct then put the gov drive gear in and with those timing marks correct. Then you can install the mag and set it so the rotor is set at #1 on the cap and you will be good to go. You need the front cover of the engine off so you can check the timing dots. If those dots arent lined up correct you wont get the engine to run.
