Fall off super M

I've been doing some disking with super m. Does great but one thing concerned me. While it makes ride really nice just wondered how often that large seat spring breaks. It could easily send you in tailspin and really not fond of falling in front of or on disk. Is there any remedy for this concern? Or maybe you will just tell me it has never happened and that might satisfy my concerns.

Thanks.

either an air ride seat

could happen, but even broken it is not off the back. Put a cheapfootball inside the spring and inflate to your satisfaction. There are three weights of spring made for it to suit various operators gravitational attraction. Jim

The spring on my 300 broke last summer while baling hay - I didn't come close to toppling off backwards but I was nursing a sore tailbone for a couple days. DO NOT attempt to operate tractor without the spring - the 1/4 inch of pad does little to soften the ride.

Replace the spring if it has pits from rust. You could also stand up while plowing, often it's more comfortable anyway if the field is rough.

put a pull shutoff on the ignition and hook up every time your in the seat , not perfect but it would help

I'm not sure if it is supposed to on 53 super m but my seat won't flip up for standing like some photos I've seen. May just replace it and shock anyway. Thanks.

I'm going to have to remember that..... Someone's gravitational attraction. And I like football idea. That may be my solution.

Old Minneapolis tractors like a U with the seat way back look like this could happen easier. I drove a Farmall H countless hours and never thought about the seat "letting you down" but I was a featherweight back then.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless the spring goes down a lot. I know my Farmall H has a pretty strong spring so I'd feel pretty safe using that. I have driven other tractors with weak springs that go almost all the way down. In that case I'd just replace it with a stronger spring or put something inside so it doesn't go down as far.

I'd recommend it. The danger is not an easy let-down, but a snap, and off you go. Fairly cheap on eBay, I did it, and feel much safer.

They do make springs of different weight ratings. After mine broke I got the heaviest rating as a replacement.

Mine is broke on my H. I need to find a new one. But I still manage to stay on the seat pretty easily. I have long legs though and take it easy. I will be replacing it this summer once I get back up to the farm.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm holding on to the steering wheel with one or both hands 99.9% of the time I'm in the seat. If the spring breaks, it's going to be a surprise, and it'll probably hurt, but I'm pretty sure I won't fall off the tractor because my natural reaction will be to put a death grip on the steering wheel.

Maybe some of you guys go through the field doing the Village People Y-M-C-A dance? Might be a good idea to change your driving habits if so.
