Well,I finally got to rebuild the governor on the Super M today. I found out some interesting things along the way. I was getting some interest in what was wrong,so here is what I found.
Taking the governor apart, everything internally looked brand new.All of the bearings and bushings were tight and looked only slightly used.Pins in gov weights were also tight and little to NO wear in them.Either this gov was rebuilt sometime before I bought it,OR I own a LOW hour tractor, don't know???(original gov, date codes match engine.) Some VERY slight wear in throttle shaft that passes into gov housing.I built it up and re sized. Cleaned gov housing,re painted and totally re sealed.
Now ,What I DID see was a TON of crap lodged in the tube between the gov housing and the carb. I scrubbed that stuff out of the tube and lubed the bushing at the gov end. (Pretend Farmer had mentioned he had a similar issue with his.) Adjusted gov and NOW it works AWESOME!
