BN right side axle same as A?

I own a BN(currently in lots of pieces) and as far as I can tell it is the same as a B just 8" narrower. I have also found that the right side axle measures the same 18" as an A right axle. Just curious if the right side axle is the same part used on an A. If so would that mean the left side 18" axle is the only part unique to a BN? My brother in law claims the BN is pretty rare so just trying to see what is unique to the BN.

Yes that side is the same as the A also the right side is the same . But the diff housings are NOT the same even though they measure the same as an A. There are no bosses underneath next to the tranny side therefore you cannot attach rear tooling that is made for the BN. looks and measurements are same. The diff shaft will not allow brakes. So to use the diff housings you can make a BN with the diff housings but you need the diff shafts for a BN to have brakes. BNs can be hard to find in some areasbut total production of the BN would not make it rare they do show up for sale on YT adds for sale also on the pic section of tractors for sale. I just sold my last BN probsably wont have another one.

Rare? depends on what you call rare. In round numbers BN's produced were 15000, B's 60000. Not including SA, A's produced were 117552.

My guess by "rare" he means less common. Yesterday I was at the antique tractor show in Tulare CA and we saw lots of other model Farmall's but very few model B's and not a single BN. Another quick question, my tractor has FABN 106189 stamped on the engine and has 18" axle tubes on both sides, so pretty confident it is a '44 model BN. The tag under the seat is marked model "A" and s/n FAA 106189. is it possible they used an "A" tag under the seat from the factory? Seems pretty unlikely the seat mount/tag came off another tractor with the same numbers?

Sorry for lots of questions, fairly new to these old tractors.

According to Guy Fay's book, FAA was used on the BN serial through 48350 then FABN; Apparently that seat part was stamped wrong. Maybe the previous owner replaced it and forgot it was supposed to be FABN?
