Need schooling on Super C fast hitch

I need a small tractor to move snow work the garden and get firewood from a friends bush.I want 3 point hitch and was leaning towards Ford but Jr. has found a Super C he wants me to look at.The advertised price is 1250 Canadian so it is reasonably priced.Ad says runs but needs carb work and cultivator and side dresser may be available. I have no experience with that style fast hitch at all.I had it on a 350 and that worked good but the little guys seem to be different. If anyone can offer any advice I would really appreciate it especially how well fast hitch conversions will work with Ferguson implements.

The main difference between the Fast Hitch on a 350 and the Fast Hitch on a Super C is that the 350's is a later "traction control" style, while the Super C's is an earlier "depth control" style.

Traction control is a little like draft control. The loop handle on the left side moves up and down and is supposed to control the amount of downforce the implement is providing.

Depth control allows you to tilt the whole fast hitch up and down, thereby controlling the angle of the implement to the ground, and controlling how deep a plow cuts.

The other main difference is the Super C is a "small point" hitch while the 350 is a "large point" hitch. Small points are 5/8" shorter vertically than large points. Otherwise both are the same.

I will just address the suitability of a Super C to what you plan to use it to perform as I have never used a fast hitch to 3-point adapter and I just seek out the IHC fast hitch implements which I need originally produced for the tractor. The Super C with a Fast Hitch is probably the handiest small tractor that IHC ever produced. With the narrow front it is so maneuverable it will almost turn in its footprint. The fast hitch permits hooking up to a lot of implements without getting off the tractor except to connect the PTO. The hitch system has down pressure - you can even lift the rear of the tractor off the ground with a block of wood under the drawbar using the hitch system. Another special feature is the tilt side to side feature which I find extremely useful with an IH grader blade for our gravel road. IH produced a nice front easily mounted blade system for the Super C which I see for sale very frequently and believe they are very common in the snow areas. Conversion from the fast hitch to three point implements using one of the adapters is something I have no experience with and hopefully someone will address that portion for you. That style of adapter is readily available from the aftermarket folks and even an original IH one isn't very hard to locate. I have an original IHC Supplement to the Operator's Manual on the Super C Fast Hitch system I would be happy to copy and send you which explains its function in user friendly detail along with numerous photos. If you would like a copy I would be pleased to mail you a copy through the postal system but would need your mailing address. My email is open if you want to send your address in that manner. I wish you luck in your tractor selection but a Super C is one very useable tractor, Hal.

The SC with a FastHitch and a 3pt. adapter is a great little system. There is some variation in the width of the bottom pins on different Dearborn/Ferguson implements so the adapter needs to be designed to accommodate the difference. Considering the availability of small 3pt. implements and the SC's capabilities I think you will really like it. I have two 8Ns and a bunch of implements, have not used the Fords since I set up the SC.

I have a Super C and made my own top link for the 3pt hitch. i bought some fast hitch prongs with speed ball on them. the 3pt works ok but it aint great in my book. Ill take 2pt fast hitch any day. from the seat you can control the for and aft pitch and the side to side pitch.

for mounting, its real easy: just back up and click and your ready to go. Farmall51 on you tube has a video on a super c with fast hitch. i have an extra starter rod that i use to lift the dogs so i can unhitch from the seat.

I have 4 acres here and the front half is mostly in garden this year. for cultivating, you cant do any better then the mounted cultivators. the mounted side dressers, when you can find them, are very easy to mount and use.

About the only 3pt implement i use is a 5' mower everything else is 2pt.

for small acreage, you cant beat a Super C. I wound not be afraid to drop my plow on 20 to 30 acres and put in a field of corn or pinto beans any day.

just my 2 cents worth.

BarnyardEngineering, can you help me with a problem? I restored my Farmall C to better than new condition- new hydraulic pump, new 12 volt
system with electronic ignition, new paint. Everything works like a charm. Problem is this winter because of situation I didn't get around to
burn brush, and purchased a WoodMaxx (WM-8H) woodchipper. It weights 990 LBS. I didn't want to compromise on time or quality. My Farmall C
chips the brush and limbs nicely, but it will not lift the woodchipper with the 3 point hitch. I can jack it up and the hydraulics will hold
it in that position. I have an aftermarket Work Saver and that works nice otherwise. Can you give me some advice on what to do as I would
like to lift this 990 LBS and not have to use a jack and a platform to slide under it everywhere I go, that takes too much time. Thank you
for any suggestions.
Robert
