what size wheel disc to match an M ?

Dukester hit it rite on the money you have power traction is next. We used the 10/6 #35 for yrs with two sections harrow behind

More to consider than just 'horsepower'. Gotta get that power to the ground. 10 or 12 is about right. However with a 12',you may need duals. With duals, you may even pull 14ft.

You guys must have a better M than I have or maybe thinking the tractor has been overhauled to a super. My M which is in good enough condition to pull the 3-14's it was rated for has a full load with an 8" disk on freshly plowed ground and the disk turned all the way. Firmer ground is definitely better and not turning the disk as far as it will go is better still. I have pulled the neigbors 12 ft disk only turned about half way and on ground that had already been worked once. I don't see a lot of slippage and I'm sure duels would help some but still don't think I would have the power to go bigger and disk the way I do.

depends on brand & type of disk , i have a 11 ft , hyd. lift deerborn disk , which is fairly light , disk angled all the way sunk to the bearings i can pull it fine with my Farmall H in 3rd gear , it will make it work on hills, so id think an M would pull it great , my H does have a fresh engine w/ overbore kit but no pop up piston, its still a kero. burner if need be, one set of weights & new, filled 13.6 tires, id also say the disk need to be pulled level- set up can make or break ya , my WD allis w/ more power wont pull them just spins

I pull a No. 47, 13.5 foot, with a 1000 lbs of weights on it, in the fall, after the wheat is off, to disk slough's, but bye that time the ground is pretty hard, and the weeds are 3-4 foot tall, but knocks em down. With a M, 264 kit.

10 foot would be a lite load at times , but a larger disc maybe more than you want at times . i have a stroker with oversize pistons and 14.9x38 rears and pull a 12 foot #37 in fourth and dont know its there, also have fluid and cast weights.

I think a heavy 10 foot, or lighter 12 foot disc would be about right. I am discing sod/dirt at the neighbors place, and pulling TWO 10 foot discs with a Super M. Did it last fall with an M with 4 inch pistons, but was a good work for it. I would really like to find a 12 foot hydraulic lift for my Super M. Would be perfect I think!! ;)

Are we talking freshly plowed ground or trying to cut up some sod? I would think 10 ft. Would be all you would want on plowed ground. First time over would really make her work. Two 10 footers Bryce?

Yes, but I was cutting sod, kind of! Never had an issue with power, traction was troubling at times though. In plowed ground I wouldn't stand a chance, 12 foot would be all it would want I think.
