1947 Farmall M Update - Episode 8.1

Good morning everyone,

Bear with me in Episode 8 (Part One)... I go through the process of installing a full 'comprehensive' carburetor kit (including the trial and error of me remembering where parts go)... It's a LONG video, and I tried to speed it up the most I could. MANY people have requested that I record the ENTIRE process, so that's what I am trying to do and keep the videos somewhat interesting. You won't hurt my feelings if you skip around in the video (and I won't know anyways).

Of course, some of the issues I was having trouble with I figured out while editing the video. Most of the problem was I tore the carburetor apart a month ago, so remembering exactly how it went back together was a little difficult. I'll be doing a 'Part Two' - maybe tomorrow - that will show throttle shaft bushing replacement, as well as explain the issue I was having with the idle mixture & main (load) fuel jet installation.

The video is still processing on YouTube, but should be available to watch by about 3-5 PM today.

Happy Easter to everyone, and enjoy some good meal with family!

This is the one that was included in the kit. Should I switch it with the original? I've got it cleaned up and sitting in a bag of spare parts (I always keep good spare parts).

Ken; I enjoyed the vids again however I did skip some. BIG question I have for you is how does your wifey allow you to use the kitchen table for a work bench? Or maybe you arn't married yet, if thats the case you will find out that is a bad habbit you will need to change when you do get married.

Glad you enjoyed the vids. I know that they were long - I tried to speed them up where I could, but I also wanted to make sure that those who want me to go through the entire process get what they are asking for. If my videos can help someone in the future, great. They may be a great resource for newcomers to the forum, and to the hobby.

The fiancee and my kitchen table.. Well, she is still living at home with her parents so I still have free range of the house (for now). I think that she understands though because I don't have much bench or flat space to work in the garage. Once we move into a bigger space I will gladly work on it in the garage/shop/pole barn (whatever we end up getting). I try to keep everything as clean as possible before working on it in the house and make sure to always put some sort of towel down.

At least I am not like a couple of friends who store their Harley's in their living room in the winter. I've got one friend that builds motorcycles i his living room. He built a trike once and couldn't get it out the door (and he seriously thought about cutting an opening in the wall instead of just disassembling the trike).
