farmall h conversion to diesel

hi everyone, im kinda new here. i was wondering if anyone out there would know if i could replace the gasoline motor in my 1950 farmall h with a perkins diesel? i have access to a d1105 3 cyl. diesel for short money.

any help is greatly appreciated.

You can put any engine you like in any tractor you like just takes money and so good sense figuring out problems then making it work but bottom line is why

Yes, there examples around. It is a nice fit. Custom machining and fabrication is needed for mounts, engine plate, Flywheel, and cooling connections (and many other details) but it us a great tractor. (I would do it to a F350 rather than an H due to the advantages of a far more modern tractor. TA, Live Hydraulics, and Live PTO). Jim

If you have to hire out all the custom machine work at full retail, it will not be cost effective. You will own the world's most expensive H, that isn't worth any more than any other old H out there. But, it will be cool.

Ideally you need to have your own machine shop, or a good friend with a home shop that is as excited about the project as you are.

Advice from a person that has converted things, do it for fun, leave it alone if you are doing it to get a working tractor.
