Need some advice on converting my farmall a to 12 volt.. it has a magneto, however it has a coil on top of valve cover with 6 volts with switch on, I am sure this was added on for some reason.. what is the best way to make this work with 12 volts ?

Assuming the mag has been modified to be used as a set of points and the distributor (mag) cap, and that the coil being discussed is connected to the canter of the mag cap, It needs a resistor placed in the wire from the ignition switch to the coil. A 65 chevy ballast resistor will work fine and is cheap. If it is being wired with 3 wires for Delco 10SI alt, the #1 terminal connects to the ignition side of tha ballast resistor. That wire should be 14 gauge, and it needs to have a diode in it, or a marker light (not LED type) or a 10 ohm resistor. These when placed in the wire prevent the tractor from continuing to run when the switch is turned off. (feed back from the alt.) The #2 terminal connects to the big terminal assess charging voltage.
