Upper Steering Shaft

I need to replace my upper steering shaft on a 1950 Farmall M. Will the Upper steering shaft from a 1945 M work? Concerned about length and I cannot measure mine at the moment since it is in storage. I am not concerned about the joint as I will be replacing that with an aftermarket U joint. Thank you

Are you talking about the worm gear and shaft, if so the other used on is probably no better than yours.

THe rear shafts with the steering wheel on it should be the same. The front (under the hood) shaft is also the same but might have as much wear as the old one, as pointed out by Dave. Jim
