Turbo question

Hi

Further to my 1066 thats been pumping fuel into the crankcase.

When I went to rescue the tractor and bring it home, I noticed that there is some oil seeping between the rubber hose and the cast intake manifold.

Just wondering if this is because the oil has been diluted with fuel and getting passed the seal or is the seal in the turbo in need or replacement and will it leak with undiluted oil in the crankcase?

I don't know how the turbo is made but I am assuming there must be seals of some sort in there.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Could be because that turbo is leaking past into the
intake. It's hard to tell how long it was run diluting oil
but it could have caused turbo trouble. I'd fill the fuel
entrance issue first. While you have it apart take a
good look at the turbo and make sure a total shell
out isn't imminent. If it seems tunable don't make
any decisions before you cute the first problem.

A diesel doesn't need any fuel/oil mix entered into
the intake. Can you say runaway?? I wouldn't be
hitting the panic button until you see that it is losey
goosey internally or it leaks straight oil.

When a pump starts giving trouble I look for things
like a turbo to be toward the end of its life as well.
Those parts all seem to quit in one month. During
planting or haying, to be exact.

Yes, my intention is to have the pump fixed first. I was wondering if I should do both the pump and turbo at the same time or give the turbo a chance on straight oil.

Just looking for suggestions from people who may have experienced the same type of thing.

Thanks for your recommendations.

Easy to check , pull the big hose off the turbo and take your pinky and thumb and wiggle the shaft , look to see if the fins are hitting the housing . If it wiggles then replace if in doubt then have someone that knows look . really get ugly if one takes a dump . Your just starting to pay tuition to the school of tractor learning. keep the check book full.
