Just some paint info. I did my own little chemistry project with some Rust-oleum. I bought some Sunrise Red. I added, at a ratio of 8:1, some enamel hardener and thinned with automotive enamel reducer. Based on the original paint from my IH 184, this is a very close match. Within 5 minutes of spraying, the paint was just barely tacky. After 1 hour, I was running my hand across the sprayed panel. If I pushed with my finger, sure I could make a mark. But this was only an hour. So the long dry times with Rust-oleum do not have to be :)

Once upon a time I used to paint but things have changed I'm sure. As I recall Rustoleum paint is a type of paint that has a tendency to fade and get chalky. I believe it was called Alkalyd enamel? Particularly in red and blue. I think the better quality paint is called Acrylic enamel. What are your experiences with this? If I'm going to pretty up a tractor I want it to stay that way :)

I have several items around that I have use rustoleum on and they are holding up well. One of them being a shipping container painted green and cattle trailer painted red. Both sit outside continuously, were been painted 6 years ago and I have no issues with the paint fading. I have another trailer that is painted red and sits out half the time. It was painted 12 or more years ago and is not flaking or changing colors. I have had great luck with rustoleum but I will say my tractor were painted with IH 2150 and hardener.

Modified alkyd enamel is what the dealer IH2150 red is, not sure what rustoleum is exactly.

That should work fine, I do not get fussy about brands of paint with hardeners, use NAPA standard hardener with enamels and NAPA high solids hardener with urethanes.

I have used rust-oleum I-H red for 25 pluss yrs on tractors and it still looks good but they don't set outside only when in use shows and tractor rides
