If you are asking about an original 6 volt Farmall gas model there wasn't a box but only the cover. An original battery cover is almost non-existent to locate and finding one is next to impossible as no one that I am aware of is producing reproductions.

Are you talking about a gas or diesel? The Farmall 240, which was gas only and 6 volt positive ground, had the battery under the dash and only had a battery hold down or cover. The torque tube served as the battery base. The Farmall 340 gas also was 6 volt positive ground but had the battery behind the seat. It consisted of 370555R11 Base and 370553R11 Cover. The distribution block for the hydraulics mounted to the base. I can find you a base or check out eBay. A satisfactory cover/battery hold down should be available after an internet search, NAPA, etc. Battery size will be critical so that it fits in the "L" shaped seating area. The Farmall 340 diesel was a different animal, being 12 volt and also located behind the seat. It consisted of 369603R11 Base, 369601R11 Case, 358279R21 Battery Hold Down, and 369788R1 Battery Box Cover. My memory says that the battery box was the same on W-6, Super W-6,or W450. Battery size will be critical so one could use the correct holes in the battery base for the hold down bolts.

You can still get them. Bates Corporation, Bourbon, Indians has 22 of them but salty at $150.00.

It's a 340U gas.. I have the base, but could not recall if there was a box on the tractor when I was younger. The tractor has also been converted to 12v

Per IH parts book the International 340 (utility), gas and diesel, uses the same box as the Farmall 340 gas. That suggests that the International utility model is 6 volt positive ground. In that application the base and the side and back for the battery are one integral assembly, hence the R11 in the part number. So if you have the base the rest of it most likely is gone like many of that vintage. Go to CaseIHparts dot com and check it out for yourself. The battery will be under the electrical system; then you can select the battery diagram. I can help you via email. It should be open.
