Brake housing cover on Farmall C

I recently purchased a Farmall C that I am convinced used to be a white demo model. The more I "clean it up," the more white paint I find. I have another C and the brake housing has a drive shaft set up for a mounted planter or side dresser. This recent purchase has a flat cover with no shaft. Most other C's I seen have the shaft. I'm curious if the shaft set-up was optional as part of the planter or is this flat plate unique to demo units. Thanks in advance.

Flat plate was factory, the shaft has 3 bolts under the cover Can be removed if you don't want it. My guess is most flat cover got trough away when the shaft kit got added. Do you have serial # and or casting # for demo tractor? oldiron29

the shaft is the same either way, the difference is whether the plug in the brake housing has a hole or is solid. nothing about demonstrators, but if you don't need to drive a planter or side dresser, the solid plug will keep the dirt out of the brakes.

Thanks for the reply. The serial number of the tractor is 48xxx. I don't have it written down but it's in that range.
