Coleman FWA Axle help needed

The input (pinion) shaft is locked-up on the Coleman FWA axle on my MF 97 (same as MM G-706). This same Coleman axle was used on several Farmall/IH tractors with FWA. I bought it as a rebuilt unit, which it may have been. Unfortunately there was no lubricant in it when I got it. I found this out after it locked-up on me. I was not able to pull the input (pinion) shaft and bearings from the housing. Looks like I am going to have to press them out. In order to do that, I need to get the ring gear and differential out of the way. I have the differential unit removed from the axle, but haven't been able to get the ring gear out of the casting due to the pinion pilot bearing support casting.

This is where I'm looking for advice from anyone who has had one of these apart. What is the trick to getting the ring gear out past the pinion pilot bearing support in the casting? Do I have to completely take the differential apart? Or, if I can get the carrier bearing pulled off one side can I get the ring gear out that way?

Hoping for some good advice here!

Thanks!

Thank you Sir! I talked with Ed Leaman this afternoon. Really nice guy. He told me that the Coleman's used on the MF 97 and MM 706 were a little bit different than those used on the Farmalls. And he was right, I didn't find what he thought might be the problem. However, the tip he gave me was all I needed to get it sorted out.

I owe you a cold beverage of your choice! :)

Thanks again,

JB
