New, 30 wt, in the 1 gallon bottles. It's been stored inside but not in a temperature controlled environment, been through a bunch of winter(s) temps. Best I can tell, it's 5 years old (receipts) with one bottle nearing 10 years old. Think it's ok to use in my Super A engine? or pitch it and get new.

I"d use it without worrying about it. Opinions may vary but as far as I"m concerned it was millions of years old before it came out of the ground. A few years in a clean bottle should not be a big deal.

There was a article somewhere, it was written by a retired shell oil engineer, he said threw it away after its 5 yrs ,because the additive they put in, go out whack, but my neighbor is a cat certified mechanic and a lot smarter than I, he says he dont believe it. But he said there are over 500 different different additives to put in the oil to makes it better, A very interesting write up. But i would threw away the 10 yr old bottle, or use it in the oil cans.

I did some reading and most say if the additives have settled out, shake it up and use it. Truth be told, it still smells good and I don't see any additives settled out, like I see in the bottom of a Rotella bottle. Looks just as clear as any other oil around here.

It would be interesting to know what additives, if any, are on this low ash stuff. Looks like straight 30 weight to me and since its not a multi viscosity, that's one additive it doesn't have.

Mobil one and Amsoil say 5 and 7 years, shelf life. For more information I found a oil testing site named blackstone labs, then there is Bobistheoilguy.com if you wanted to know more that you ever wanted to.

Thanks guys,

Why mess around with some old oil when for a few bucks you can have new good better than the old. Oil your tools ect with the old

How many hours do you put on in a year?

It should be a non issue if you change it regular and warm it up good.
