I am need some advise on replacing my radiator on my 1957 farmall 450.I have had it fixed several times and with all the work to R and R would like yalls opinion on where to get the best quality new radiator? I looked on this site and there are 2 replacement for 361417R93 or 361416R93. What is the difference? Case Ih only shows a 351416R93. I want one to fit correctly on it since I just restored it.

I got one to that's marginal, but I am going to get a new one from the guy at the radiator shop, he knows which one is best for the money. I think Modine is the major player though.
 
417 was for a standard or W series tractor and originally didn't have a hole for steering shaft. 362416R93 is a row crop and when furnished by IH. R93 had a bigger hole for the steering shaft than previous suffix. IH started using those on late 450 tractors and replacement part. If you have one with the 2 piece steering worm shaft used on the IH supplied power steering you need one like that. Most of the steering shafts have worn out and replaced with the previous 1 piece though.
If you want close to original check with the supplier, Some use the same top tank and core as ones sold for M tractors with just a longer fill tube in the top. Some use a different cap than original.
 
Lots of people on here have had bad experiences with new radiators. I don't know who all is making them but some are just junk. Can yours be re-cored? That would insure a good fit when finished. I got a good used one from Steel Wheel Ranch a couple of years ago when a fan blade went through the core. He pressure tested it and gave me a 30 day warranty.
 
I bought a new one for my SM about four years ago and it is doing fine. I went to the local radiator shop and got it there, wasn't cheap. I use tractor to mow with in the summer and so it has seen a lot of hours not just a show tractor. Maybe I got lucky?
