IH Buyer's Guides

What year did International Harvester start printing their annual Buyer's Guides. I know they were printed in 1960. But were they printed earlier?

They are very handy in seeing the equipment available during the IHC lifetime. I have never seen one prior to the 1960 one you note. I have collected several during the years the tractor I have in my collection were produced which ends in the late 1960's. Around 1966 or so they started printing a spring issue in addition to a fall issue so two were printed each year in the later years. I have copies of all of them from 1960 through at least 1968 or so. Some years they appear to be printed with different covers as I have several for the same year with different covers. I refer to them frequently for various equipment items for information and specifications which are noted for some of their equipment, Hal.

The us buyers guides did start in 1960. In 1960 the US had both an ag version and an industrial version. The Canadian IH buyers guides started in 1958 with the 450 style tractors..

So are you looking to purchase certain years? Before the 1960's IH use to print very large dealer catalogs that where in a 3 ring binder for dealer to use as a sales aid. These are very nice catalogs and they are around but they are not cheap.

When I was young (about 1953) my parents got me a "buyers guide" from IH of Canada at our local dealer. It was undated and used blue trim on the publication and had McCormick on the front cover. It still had the A, C. H, M tractors in it, so it must have been from 1950 or 1951. It carried the entire line of tillage equipment, seeders, corn planters, tractors, haying equipment, harvesting equipment, plows etc. And it even had the crawlers up to the TD18 listed in it. And they sat around for about 2 years on the dealer's brochure stand. He had gotten a good supply of them. Anyways, mine got lost over the years and the purpose of this post is to ask if any of the Canadian readers remember this publication or have one. To me, it was a forerunner to the Buyers Guides of 1958 and 1959. I have several 1959 issues in both English and French.

I have one for my 200, not sure the year published. Nice illustrations and has a lot of equipment available you could buy.

I just received a bunch of sales brochures that I purchased and there is a 1949 by the code A-17-MM on the back cover ....catalog type mailer: The Working Tools of American Agriculture across the top of the front cover and the lower part of the cover it reads: International Harvester Farm Equipment, Inside it show some of each of IH lines of equipment tractors, cultivators, planters, listers, potato machines, dairy equipment, cotton picker, corn and beet harvestering machines etc and a full page of 3 post cards to use for more information on what ever type of machine you desire.
