This is a photo of the manifold of my brother's 756D. The cracked part also bulges out about a quarter inch. This tractor is worked very hard in season of spring, summer and fall. Could this be the result of his "turning up the screw" and increasing the top engine speed for a couple of years? He's had the injector pump overhauled, and it's now back to factory original settings.

Ah somebody has the WICK turned up way tofar and maybe the pump timing is off . Remember the old saying when the GLOW they BLOW. Be interesting to put it on the dyno and just she what it is putting out.

Dont know about your problem! But our nieghbors over the hill have a 756 and they tortured that think for years they had bigger tractors to do the job but they throw thatvold 756 on whatever and thier be a smoke cloud rolling over the hill through the tree line to our farm! One time my grandpa came up said look I think thiers a fire over the hill said no the nieghbors are chisel plowing he said no way I said jump in your car go look so he did come back 5 minutes later said yep its a tractor! Crazy

Cast iron is subject to deep rust penetration from repeated heating and cooling cycles that traverse the upper critical temperatures of the material. Rust has more volume than the original iron. (rusty rebar spalls and fractures concrete) Were it mine, I would either replace it, or cut out the expanded "lump" and patch it. Either way it requires removal. If patched, I would bolt it to a thick plate, or bad cylinder head, to keep it as straight as possible. Then have it milled flat before use. Jim

You can tell by the paint being burnt off the hood it was turned up way to much. Replace the manifold, used ones are still plentiful in tractor bone yards.
