1586 exhaust pipe

Not the most technical question, but I need a new pipe for the 1586. The daughter was running the disk for me and, poor kid, the exhaust came off and she ran it under the disk. It's a little too mangled to repair. I am going to call the bone yard. Just wondering if all the 86 series used the same basic unit or were there differences? Makes the search easier if there are a lot of models to ask after. Silly question but if anyone knows I would appreciate the help.

not sure exactly what part you are missing, but, shoup parts sells the mufflers for the 1586 with out aspirator for 106.00 dollars. they also have the muffler eliminators for 132.00. they have a center exhaust pipe for 70.00 and if aspirator equiped, 162.20 and 102 for the center exhaust pipe.. give em a call at 800-627-6137

I would think the salvages would be full of them. I don't know what 86 series shares that same pipe size though. Otherwise go to your muffler shop and have the right sized pipe flared for you. The muffler shop wouldn't have one with the black heat resistant paint though and please don't get a chrome pipe.

It's just a hard working, rough cob of an old girl and, for something like this, a scrapyard part would be good enough. Sometimes you can't find em though, so appreciate the referral. Might have to go thataway.

I wouldn't do chrome unless I wanted to do side pipes. OK...just kidding...but they sure looked nice on those cars back in the 70's!

Dave come on across the big bridge at Pt .Huron head due east about an hour and a half and I will give you one. I restored a 1086 a couple years ago and put a chrome pipe on it and still have the old one in the shed.

If you dont care about "originality" go to a local muffler shop. They can make one up for 'pennys'.Buy a spray can of HiTemp/muffler paint to prevent rust.

I would do that. Should say, I would if I weren't already an hour and a half from the bridge. Then I thinks I have to have a special drivers license to drive to Cah-Nah-Dah these days. Not like the good old days when I used to take the wife over at the Detroit bridge and have dinner in Windsor. Remember when the word "change" meant something good? Be nice to visit though.
