Farmall Cub Help!

Hi guys and gals I need some advice. I bought a 1950 cub this past fall my second one and it runs great. However it seems that the oil gets milky and the exhaust always has water vapor all the time. Now it has a bit of blow by as well. I'm thinking of a head gasket I just hate to take the motor down and not be the issue. I'm pretty familiar with these tractors but I just want to make sure I have the right diagnosis. The coolant level is a little low but not bad. Also it seems the coolant does not flow. I appreciate any response thanks!

the cub does not have a water pump, it cools by thermosiphon so the water wont flow like a modern water pump equipped engine will, as to the milky oil and vapor in the exhaust its time to pull the head and see what is going opn, once you get the hood assembly off, 6 to 8 bolts depending on how many are missing or broken off the head really isnt a big deal, id advise getting a service manual from this site first as it will help with the process remember it is obviously hurting now, the more you run it the more it will take to fix it, cubs are relatively simple machines so you can fix it

Cubs are made with no sleeves, so the milky oil and haze in the exhaust indicate a probable head gasket leak. They are pretty easy to work on as the valves are in the block and not affected by removal of the head. Were it mine I would look at the tops of the pistons through the spark plug holes. Clean metal showing piston is likely where a gasket is leaking coolant into the cylinder. Cracked heads are possible, as are cracked blocks. Running with coolant in the oil will wipe out the bearings!! Jim
