300 fast hitch cylinder question

I had noticed my lift cylinder was leaking near the bottom recently and today a piece of the threads broke off completely where one of the hoses hooks up to the cylinder base and the hose fell off the cylinder. I am going to need a new cylinder and I am wondering what I need to look for. I know I need a double acting cylinder and that the bore, stroke, rod, clevis and pin hole measurements all need to match. The old cylinder has both ports on the bottom end and all of the new ones I have seen have one port on each end, but I am hoping that will be okay. If there is anything else I need to know about how to match up a new cylinder I would be very grateful to know about it. Thank you very much.

Perhaps you could take the cylinder apart and braze a pipe coupling or half the length of a pipe coupling in the end.

Be sure part of the threaded hose end did not that broke off in the cylinder. If it did, this could be removed with an easy out and then just replace the hose. I thought all these had a hose male end threaded into these cylinders.

you'll have a hard time finding a new cylinder that will work. used ones are high dollar. have you tried removing the broken fitting? that may be your best bet.

Don't remember the type 2 point hitch you have, but both IH cylinders used should have hoses going to top part of the barrel. Think both types are 3.5 X 8 stroke. Not sure if both types are the same distance from eye to eye without measuring. Think it's pretty easy to find one for the one with clevis type pin openings on both ends. Like you say line hookup will be different. Things are tighter if you need the cylinder with a eye on one end. Think both have one inch pin sizes but memory could be off on sizes.
If its a IH cylinder mounted upside down on the early hitch they can be repaired if the housing is not broken. Shouldn't be that hard to get the broken pipe out.

Thank you very much, the measurements you gave are all the same as what I got when I measured the old cylinder. I ordered a new cylinder from Surplus Center that I think should work. Mine does have a clevis on both ends so that made it easier. I got one that has a side port on the base end of the cylinder so I don't have to worry about the top link of the hitch hitting the hose fitting when the hitch is all of the way down. The new cylinder has a 1.25" rod diameter and the old one was 1.125 but I don't think it will make much difference in the amount of down pressure and it should be slightly stronger. The hose end is intact, the part it screws into is what broke off. About half the circumference of the threads and down to the bottom of the threaded part is what broke off and I wouldn't trust it even if I was able to repair it so it worked for now. If I can't make this new cylinder fit I may have to look for a used one but I'd rather get a new one for the money, I guess. Here is a link to the cylinder I bought. It won't be here for a week or two, but I can get along without the tractor for now.

I had a leaky cylinder (internal leakage across the piston seals) on my 300U and I got a rebuild kit from CaseIH. If your cylinder has the four tie bolts holding it together, it's pretty easy to do.

Also, my IH cylinder has a plunger for stopping cylinder travel. A little collar clamps on the piston rod and depresses plunger to stop cylinder travel. Just clamp it on the rod where you want the hitch height to be. Pretty handy when needing to raise hitch and then drop down to operating level.
