Farmall A cultivator

New to the forum, looking for some help. Picked up a 41 Farmall a, has a cultivator on it. Have no use for the cultivator so will be looking to sell. Anyone know how I can figure out which model it is? Rough guess of what it is worth?

Pic attached.

Have the cultivator parts that mount on these back bars. These are at like a 45 degree angle, not 90 like I've seen before .

Your pic shows an option of rear tooling with seperate lever on the platform for raising. They also had an option to raise them when fronts were lifted. Your pic also shows the lever for setting depth for the mounted moldboard plow

Three models were available. 134,136 and 138 and also an A-435 veggie model. All except the 134 could also be exhaust lift. Many types of tooling was available depending on what crops were raised. Do you think it is all there as most have important pieces missing example is all the tooling there so it could be used.

Believe all there. Came with some extra pieces too that may or may not be for the same model. I'll try to get some better pictures up tonight and some of the spare parts. How can I tell the 3 models apart?

I'll add a little more to what Gene already said. Here are the obvious difference to tell the models apart. On yours, you can see the mounting frame part (the parallel linkage that allows raising/lowering) has two round parts that run front to back. The earlier A-134 and A-435 had rectangular parts. A-134 had tool bars similar to yours, the A-435 had tool bars running all the way across the tractor. The A-136, A-138, and A-437 had the mounting frame with the round parts. The A-136 tool bar was a pipe that ran front to back (called a gang pipe). The A-138 had a rectangular tool bar (yours) while the A-437 had tool bars like the A-435. So, you've got an A-138.

You may have all these parts, however this is what I don't see. Up front, the tool bar extension and spring trip for one side (maybe just not visible in the picture). Rear tools of some type for both sides. Keep in mind that (except for the plow lever) all the levers, rockshafts, brackets etc. that are on the tractor are PART OF THE CULTIVATOR. If you decide to (as many have on the past) sell the complete cultivator but keep the levers for a do-it-yourself snow plow or something, you aren't selling a complete cultivator. You are then selling mostly scrap iron, that is currently bringing about 1.5 cents a pound.

With hand lift and an independent rear lift, you have a fairly desirable version of an A cultivator. But you still need to find the (fairly rare) individual that wants one.

why in the world would you want to get rid of that rig ?
if you sell it you will have the devil finding another in
that condition. This is all your decision but if it were
mine and I sell parts you would have to pry from my cold
dead hands. Just my opinion.

Looking again at what i can see you have the A-138 with the hard to find linkage that raises the rear when front is raised as that rockshaft is hard to find i do have two of that rear rockshaft. asking prices do vary according to location but 400 is in the ball park there is a demand in places but freight can be a problem do you have the shanks and shovels for the rear or scratchers like the pic shows yours does have the hand lift levers correct for that model.

I don't see the working tools for the right side of the rear section, assume they just didn't get into a picture. You are missing 2 helper springs. Where you have one on the left front, there should be a second one next to it just like it. There should also be one on the lever for the rear section.

Your front lever assembly has a couple extra pieces welded on (see the sloppy welds).

The tractor serial number should be on a plate on the right side of the left seat support. If the plate is missing, there are other ways to determine the year. The Farmall A was built from 1939 through 1947. This is one of the later ones.

Where are you located? I might be interested in it. Let me know when you arrive at a price.I'm also looking for a one bottom mounted plow.
