SuperM chicken coop rescue! (pics)

Just saved this Super M from being abused in a chicken coop.As we speak, it's been power washed, and put in a nice safe garage. Disassembly has begun for a total rebuild. Be ready guys... lots of questions to follow! First up... what are the best lifting points for pulling the engine? I see 4 tapped holes in the rear of the head , so I'm thinking left rear of head and front right where the generator mount is. (the inboard hole) Or should I just remove the head, and use a couple of head bolts for my lift chain? I pulled small block Chevy's so I'm no stranger to all this. Great fun! Thanks in advance

I like it. Do you have any pictures from the rear? I've never seen a ROPS on an M. I'm surprised how good it looks.

Thanks,
Dan

The Rops is homemade. 6 inch C channel and a bunch of other metal to attach it to the axle. The guy I got it from made it up because he got tired of almost falling off the back when he popped the clutch. He also wanted a sun canopy, so he kinda copied the ROPS from the early '70,s tractors. I pulled it off to get the tractor inside but I'll try to post some pics of how it attaches soon.

Pulling the engine because I know the tractor. Got it from a neighbor. Blows ALOT of oil which is why he parked it.Had my eye on it for awhile. Besides, a restored M is part of my bucket list. All red and pretty....

ahhhh, the old bucket list, guess we all got them. looks like more chicken poop then SM.. make soup out of the chickens, restore the SM then use it to pull a manure spreader......

I pull the head and use the head bolts to hook the lift chains to. You want the chain down on the block so you dont bend th head bolts. I use some 3/ 4 inch iron water pipe cut to length and some big flat washers. Works good.

thanks for the tip. I had a better feeling about using the head bolts, instead of risking the head. With the head off its lighter too. thanks again
