1964 IH Cub lo boy

I recently picked up this Cub lo boy. The husband passed away so the widow just wants his crap gone. $400. ITs been sitting for years, and that was obvious because it was a little sunk in the mud. And the ground wasn't even soft.
So I got it home. Checked the oil, it was low. So I topped it off for now(going to change it). Topped off the coolant. It already has an alternator so its 12 volt. I borrowed a battery from my SM and cranked it over. Wouldn't start. I checked spark, it has good spark. Pulled the intake tube off the oil bath filter and it revealed a much needed cleanout. I sprayed a little starting fluid in and she fired right up. Will only run on nearly full choke, so a carb rebuild is in order. The clutch seems way out of adjustment, as you have to depress the pedal very far before the throwout bearing even touches he pressure plate fingers. Besides the clutch adjustment issue, it needs one front tube and fluids changed. That's it. Came with a mower and snow plow.

Great buy on the tractor. It looks like there may be a gear reduction unit on the right hand side rear axle assembly? There is an extra handle next to the seat. If the tractor has the gear reduction unit you absolutely stole the tractor.

IH would paint tractors what ever plain color was required by the purchaser. The most common were yellow (peeking out on the images) and IHC red, but many were painted for municipalities. Jim

If you haven't checked yet, make sure you have oil pressure. Sometimes after sitting too long the oil pump may not self prime. To prime the pump, remove the little socket head 1/8" pipe plug located on the top left rear edge of the block. Squirt oil into the hole and replace the plug to prime the oil pump.

It ended up showing oil pressure but it ran for about 20 seconds before it did. At first I figured the gage was stuck, and it may have been because the engine did not knock at all.
As of now it will not run unless under full choke, so I will be rebuilding the carb.
As far as I can tell, theres no gear reduction unit. The lever next to the seat is for the fast hitch. It raises and lowers the front of the hitch if you had a plow attached to raise and lower depth.

Start by removing the main jet and carefully cleaning it with a small piece of soft wire (like copper phone wire). Be careful to not enlarge the hole in the jet. It is on the inner end of the small hex head on the outer side of the carb. You don't even have to remove the carb to do it.

Do as Jim suggested. Most likely that is all it will need. Be sure to clean the hole in the sides of that "bolt/jet" and the hole in the end/tip of it. Blow through it with compressed air after you've ran the wire through it. Afterwards, before you screw the "jet/bolt" back in the carburetor, turn the fuel supply on and make sure you have good flow to the carburetor. If you do, reinstall that jet and see how she runs.
