New to me 560, serial number shows it to be a 1962. Has after the serial number a C S Y C C. I know what the S and Y are from looking through archives but what are the C's? The last two Cs are stamped around the steel hyd lines that run over top of the tag (like they were stamped in later)....could these have been put on later like for a fix of a recall etc? Would the final drive issues with a 560 be present on a 62 model? Tks.

One C could indicate the tractor is a LP or was at one time. CC is 3rd speed heavy tillage attachment. 62 model would have all or most all rear end changes when built. Probably missing something but the oil return tube change in later 62 is the only thing I can think it may not have.

thanks D Slater. It is propane. where would that return oil tube be located? I am liking the tractor more and more now. Runs the best and is very nimble. It does have a bad steering leak coming right out of the bolster....but that seems like time justified to fix now. Clutch/trans/engine etc are great.

Serial 58,000 something was when the last oil return tube change happened. Return oil from the hydraulics location was changed to dump on the differential if I remember correct. Not worth changing unless doing transmission work.

In the tillage gear setup on a 560 its actually 3rd AND 4th gear that are lower according to my IH manual.

I have a 560D with the tillage setup and its only barely noticeable but it will plow in 3rd
