Farmall h water pump rebuild??

I'm trying to rebuild my water pump because it was leaking out the front by the packing nut. I tried tightening the nut but it didn't help. I was able to get the fan off, the impeller out and both seals removed. How do I get the bearings out? Can they be pressed out either side or do they to be pressed out one side? Where exactly does the packing go? I did not find any when taking it apart. Does anyone have detailed pics of the rebuild process? Any place online I can get the replacement parts? Thanks. Bob

It is too late now, but you can simply add more packing thread after you remove the packing nut.

Rebuilding the waterpump is covered in the H-8 I&T manual and the IH Service manual CHS-69. Both descriptions run several paragraphs and have illustrations that you show you what to hold and what to press against - hold the fixed flange and press against the sleeve ( internal thread is 3/4-16 NF ) to remove the rear bearing.

It will be a lot easier if you have a manual. I have had good luck with manuals from binder books.

Thanks I ordered a manual and will go from there.

I'm working on the pump and I can't seem to find a torque for the bearing retaining nut in the manual. Does anyone know? Should the impeller still be able to move in and out? I can move it by hand but the springs on the fan don't seem to be strong enough to hold it out. How tight should it be?
