2424 international hydraulics

I am working on a 2424 international with a 2000 loader. a new front hydraulic pump has been installed by me. I drained the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir and transmission. the reservoir fluid was a light green and transmission a slight darker. rear end fluid was darker. trans had water in it. my question is how to remove and flush the left over fluid in reservoir and trans. will be changing the small suction filter. have large 24 inch suction filter also mounted in frame. I believe the bad pump was causing air in lines and at that time the fluid was a milky color. any advice is greatly appreciated.

I bought a W4 that had been sitting out side for a long time. What little tranny fluid was in the reservoir was almost tar. I dumped in some kerosene and let it sit overnight, then drained out what I could. At least the kerosene came out, and I think some more of the tar did also. Some might frown at what I did, but I figured anything was better than just leaving it as is. After running it a while with fresh gear oil the tranny did get noticeably quieter.

Guess I would do this on my 2424 if I had to also. Good luck with that project - wish I had a loader for mine! Have had it 30 years and love it - its irreplaceable.
