EXHAUST MANIFOLD

Hopefully sometime this winter I will be able to do some work on my 504. My question is that I would like to put an underslung exhaust on. There is a cap or plug that I can remove to do this, but I can't get it to budge. I do not want to break or crack the manifold. Any suggestions? Secondly where would I find the underslung exhaust?

I do not know what the "plug" looks like. If it is a thread in plug, heating the manifold with an acetylene torch till it is near red hot, and cooling the plug with ice touching it, You can break the connection at the threads. Put candle wax on the interface before it cools, to draw wax into the threads. Do this a few times, and apply removal force. it is always easier to remove frozen components when they are not rounded off, or twisted. Jim

Put it on your gas grill to heat it up. Works well so long as my wife doesn't see me doing it.

When you're done with your work, put it back in the grill till it cools down.
