It was brought to my attendtion that the H decal is on the grill not on the hood. I had not even noticed. I will try to attact a photo. Is this decal original and or correct at some time?

The "H" decal is simply in the wrong place. By the way, the side sheet decal that is on the hood is at least 6 years newer than the tractor.

So Jim from what you see the decals have been replaced at one time? I have had this tractor for about 3 years. I beleive I am the second owner, the woman I got it from was the wife of the PO he had pasted. Was on the same farm since it was new. From the looks I had thought it had never been repainted. But may be I am wrong. oldiron29

That is the same place that the decal is on mine. I know that mine was repainted at some point. I have to say I love your H. That is one fine looking machine. If it where mine I wouldn?t touch a hair on its head.

Absolutely the decals have been replaced. The "man on a tractor" logo on the side sheet didn't exist in 1943. I can't say if that is original paint or not, but it is unlikely that someone replaced the decals and didn't paint it. It is easy to confuse old paint with original paint. If a 1943 tractor got repainted when it was 10 years old, the "new paint" would be 62 years old by now.

That decal on the hood was not used until late 40s. 39-45 ish the decal only said mccormick deering farmall no ih logo, 45-47 ish mccormick deering farmall with ih logo, 47+ mccormick farmall ih logo. And the H decal should be on hood as well. VERY VERY NICE TRACTOR!jim.

I guess I should keep my eyes open for a Hood and grill with the same patina and correct decals! oldiron29

Yeah, it is an old repaint. But I love it!!!!!!!!! For goodness sake don't be going trying to change anything. It's perfect just the way it is!

In the late 40s and through and through the 50s it was quite common for dealerships to offer winter overhaul specials that that included new paint and decals.

Yes. I believe that was an International Harvester sponsored program. They wanted ALL of their tractors to look good.

I have a 43 H I'm working on. It has really old Super H decals on the hood. So It went through some sort of repaint in its life and maybe was redecaled as a super H to make it sell or something.
Its an original Kerosene Tractor and still has the correct hood with starter tank hole.

I love your wide front on Steel. If I could come up with a reasonably priced set of steel mine would be converted to wide front steel like yours.

Listen to what everyone is saying. Don't change a thing. It is great as is, you can't fix it and make it better.

IMHO leave it just like it is. I see a lot of different-color guys [won't way what color] snarl and snap and bite at each other when a cotter pin isn't EXACTLY like it was come from the factory. I don't think us IH guys do that. Leave it, it is a piece of unknown history.
