Do you actually have a functional original thermostat or has it been removed? They were a two valve system, have never seen a replacement for one. That being said if its not in there the bypass is wide open back to the block, this can allow a lot of coolant to never reach the radiator. In my F30 I put a fender washer in the hose connection of the bypass forcing almost all the water to the radiator.
The second thing is to take off the lower connection on the front left of the block and flush out the block around the sleeves. Most of them have a couple inches of crud around the bottom of the sleeves. You can fish around in there with a wire, use a hand mirror and a small light, and get all that crap flushed out with a garden hose. Getting that crud out of there is important enough I know guys who do it as annual maintenance.

has a newer gauge that works it was a 210 with a themoter after 5 rounds and was steaming bad it was not working hard block is clean it could be the bypass good thought i will try that it sounds right thanks
