Farmal m generator

Ok all so we had a repairman come out he spent days fixing our farmal m. In the end it got a new starter motor pullout starter switch and pedal manual push starter voltage regulator and points. My question is about the generator it is no longer hooked up how will that affect the tractor? It is a 1950's model m.

To answer your question the battery will go dead if you use the tractor. Could take 3 weeks or one
day if you use the lights. Welcome to YT! Please don't be offended by the next questions there
are all types posting questions on this board and your new and "boy" is in your user name. Do you
know the difference between an alternator and a generator? Is the tractor stock still having the 6v
positive ground system? If it has been converted to 12v with an alternator quite often those setups
don't require a voltage regulator which may have been confusing to the mechanic. You say "days"
is this mechanic from an dealer? You got about 4-6 hours of work completed on the very long end.

Your tractor will start and run fine without the generator hooked up....... For a while. But you will need to use a battery charger to keep the battery charged up. For occasional use that is a fine way to go. Just don't let the battery set dead for any extended period as that will greatly shorten battery life.

That tractor was originally a 6 volt generator. if it is 12v positive ground it may have been changed to a 12 volt alternator. If you can post some photos of it you probably can get some help on here. fixed. Norm

Post good photos of the battery and the generator/alternator and it will be easy for folks to tell you what you have and what you can do about it. These tractors are pretty easy to work on. With some basic tools, motivation, and help from the people here, you should be able to maintain and use your tractor.

No he is not. but he is fairly old so it takes him longer. It is for the quality work that we hired him for. being elderly he may have simply forgotten to hook it back up.

The wires were not for the generator. :? and yes it was switched out to a 12 volt positive ground.
