caseih mx110 4wd rocker engagement switch

my neighbor has mx110 w/ 4wd. engaged with rocker switch. what do 3 positions represent. he bought used no op manual. has had problem with front axle planetary teeth getting broken two times. sounds like engaging toofast to me. something about when hit brakes. any help appreciated.

I don't know on that tractor.
On my Magnum the three positions are, 1- off, 2- on, except when applying either brake, 3- on full time. There is an indicator light in the switch which shows when the MFWD is on. MFWD also comes on any time you press both brakes.

On newer Deeres the three positions are off, auto, and on.

Auto= shuts 4wd off if you touch one steering brake, and shuts off over a certain (road) speed.
