What model fast hitch disc did I just buy??

Hi everyone just added another nice fast hitch implement to my collection! It's has the larger prongs on it for the fast hitch. It's going to work perfect match up to my 300 rc. Excellent shape too all disc are very nice and also all the bearing are very tight. Guess I got lucky on craigslist for 300 bucks ! Was wondering what model disc this is tho??? Thanks Jim

I'm curious about the model number too. I have one just like it but with eight blades per gang that I use on my 350RC. I'd say you got a pretty good deal - I paid about double that for mine a few years ago but like yours, it was in good shape and ready to take to the field so I didn't feel like it was excessive. Seems like a lot more of the rigid hitch models out there than this adjustable pitch style.

I think Pete is on the right track with 36 or 136. The original 36 did not have the crank-adjust pitch like this has. I don't know if it was a feature added in later production or if it implies a different model. My hunch is it was added to the 36.

Disk harrows were built in different widths with different numbers of blades, blade diameters, and different blade spacings. The whole machine would still be the same model number.

It is definitely one of the No. 36 models and not a 37. There are various models of the No. 36 depending on the width of cut like the one you have. They were made in the late 1950's and early 1960's and at least two models were produced for large point fast hitch tractors. The model 136 was made in both 6' (20 blades) and 7' (24 blades) foot cutting widths. There was also the model 236 in 7'2" t0 8'10" cut and the 336 and 436 models in wider cutting widths. The model number of the small point fast hitch disk harrow for the Super C, 200 and 230 tractors is 2CK-FTC36. Hope this helps with the identification of your implement, Hal.

Hal the FTC36 was for fast hitch with traction control tractors. Not sure what the model number is pictured but with the adjustment for tilt it was produced when the fast hitch with traction control came out or after. Before that the fast hitch had the front cylinder to change the tilt for the big prong disc pictured.

My McCormick Parts Catalog would identify this disk as a U-F36, 3U-FTC36, or No. 236 Disk. Those three models were manufactured in '55-'56, '57-'58, and '59-'61 respectively. With 24 total blades it would be 7 ft. 2 in. if 7-inch spacing or 8 ft. 10 in. if 10 inch spacing. The picture of the disk in the parts book includes the front crank which is identified as 652 222 R91 SCREW, hitch, assembly (57-58). Does that mean it is a 3U-FTC36 model? I cannot answer that question.

Exactly. I own one, Grease the journals 2 times a day. They are plain bearings if they have more than 1/4 inch of slop, they will work, but the grease will disappear fast. Good disk, Jim

(quoted from post at 15:12:33 10/12/15) Hal the FTC36 was for fast hitch with traction control tractors. They were meant for the fast hitch tractors that didn`t have the front to back tilt adjustment hydraulically from the seat. They first were made for use on the 300 Utility. I have one and it`s a really nice disc. The model numbers on these fast hitch discs gets a little complicated. When the disc was first introduced it was meant for the 300U only .The first discs were called U-F36 because they were to be used on the 300 Utility (U) and the F36 meant fast hitch model 36. When the 50 series were introduced, the model # of the disc changed to 3U-FTC36 for use on 300 & 350U and 350 Farmall with traction control. It meant the disc could be used on any 300 or 350 series tractor with regular or traction control fast hitch. After a couple years of being called that, IH decided to simplify the model and called it the 236.

Mine is 8 1/2 ft wide - looks same as yours and I believe it is FH 85.The model # is in the curve of the frame.Mark
