Farmall SMTA Rear Rim Valve Stem

I had to replace a rear rim because of rust. The old rim had been widened for a 15.5 tire and the valve stem was on the outside. The old rim had more rim showing on the outside than the inner side. The new rim, if mounted with the valve stem out, would have more rim on the inner side than the outside.

I am wondering if it would be okay if I mounted the rim with the valve stem on the inside as this would put the wider part of the rim on the outside to match the existing rim on the other side. Is there any issue or drawback to having the valve stem on the inside of the rear rim (towards the axle)?

you could weld the original hole shut and redrill it on the other side. I've repaired many rusted valve stem holes this way.

My Super M came to me with the left rear valve stem inexplicably on the inner side of the rim. Aside from remembering where the valve stem is when it needs air (once in 15 years!) there's been no issue it being on the "wrong" side.

I have a couple of tractors that are repaired like that. No problems/issues......Of the 4 main(plus the others) tractors on this
place, some are inside, some are inside, some are 'mixed'.No worries/no problems. install the wheel and get to work!

Thank you all for the replies. Inside it is! I have had the tractor 25 years and just now had my first flat on the rear. Seems like I fix the front ones all the time though. The valve stem on the inside works fine for me.
