Timing a 1929 McCormick deering 22-36

How do I time a 22-36 with a e4-a magneto

I would think one would set the engine on compression stroke number 1 cylinder and set the magneto ready to fire on number 1 cylinder.

get the # 1 cyl. on TDC on compression stroke. remove dist cap from mag. get rotor pointing to #1 cyl. bolt down mag. then fine tune timing with the two 1/4" coupling bolts.
